Job summary

RACOM, a nationwide provider of critical communications equipment, is seeking an RF Technician to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot RF systems for public safety, utilities, and transportation. Based at a local service center with occasional travel.

The role requires hands-on electronics experience, the ability to diagnose complex issues, and strong communication skills to assist customers and coordinate with field teams.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for operations and training.
• Mechanical aptitude for installation work and using tools.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and repair RF equipment and systems.
• Diagnose signal, interference, and hardware issues.
• Perform testing, firmware updates, and system calibration.
• Support emergency vehicle upfits and 12VDC installs.
• Maintain documentation and service records.
• Participate in on-call rotation after training.
• Conduct site surveys and RF coverage tests.
• Ensure FCC and safety compliance.
• Assist with system upgrades and new deployments.
• Travel as needed for field work and training.
• Provide prompt, professional customer support.
• Collaborate with team members and project staff.
