Job Summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity for an RF Systems Engineer to join our RF Communications Datalink group. This position involves technical and project leadership, focusing on system-level design for the customer datalink, including technical leadership, subcontractor management, and coordination with the aircraft IPT team for design, integration, and flight testing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work as a team member in Datalink Engineering developing state-of-the-art Beyond Line Of Sight (BLOS) SATCOM and Line-Of-Sight (LOS) datalinks for GA-ASI UAS.
  • Perform as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for RF and satellite communications projects.
  • Provide technical leadership for external customers.
  • Manage subcontractor technical requirements.
  • Analyze, investigate, and resolve engineering problems.
  • Perform RF systems integration/testing with aircraft, satellite earth stations, and ground control stations (travel 25%).
  • Support system integration lab (SIL) and flight tests of satellite terminals and aircraft components.
  • Collaborate on test planning, procedures, and reporting; lead datalink flight tests.
  • Support datalink roadmap and projects, coordinate segments, and interact with various teams and customers.
  • Interface with vendors, analyze capabilities vs. requirements, and communicate findings.
  • Deliver technical presentations to customers and management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or related field, with 2+ years of experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of engineering principles with practical application experience.
  • Ability to learn quickly and organize work effectively.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and in teams.
  • Willingness to work extended hours.
  • EIT certification is desirable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.

Job Type: Full-Time | Salary Range: $68,770 - $116,193
