Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace US LLC in Lansdale, PA is seeking an Engr II Wireless/RF Engineer specializing in Antenna Technology. You will contribute to the design and development of advanced defense antenna products for Electronic Warfare systems across land, sea and air.

You will apply electromagnetics to aperture design, simulation, development and testing, collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams to meet customer requirements and drive innovation for warfighter support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on electromagnetics, RF or antenna.
  • Experience in RF/microwave antenna design and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Design and modeling of RF/Microwave Antennas and elements from 3 MHz to 110 GHz using HFSS, ADS, AWR, CST, GRASP, WIPL, and MATLAB.
  • Design and fabricate Microstrip, Horn, Spiral, Dipole, Blade, Patch and Reflector antennas and AESA element components for production and proposals.
  • Collaborate with engineers and advisors to support diverse antenna products across defense and aerospace.
  • Conduct design, analysis and test of antennas, hybrids, feed structures, filters and related elements.
  • Document design elements and antenna test procedures; support Mechanical Engineering for drafting and RM engineering.
  • Set up and perform laboratory testing and evaluation of engineering hardware.
  • Travel across sites (<10%) for production support and customer meetings, trade shows, etc.
  • Prepare and present customer meetings (TIMs, PDRs, CDRs).

Job description

As a Engr II Wireless/ RF Engineer specializing in Antenna Technology at Honeywell Aerospace (HONA), your technical contributions in Antenna Design and Development will have a significant impact on the company. Your primary role will be in the design and development of advanced Defense antenna products in support of Electronic Warfare systems for land, sea and air. Additional activity will include supporting the broader aerospace business of HONA.

Your knowledge and experience of Electromagnetics as applied to aperture design, simulation, development and test and creative problem‑solving skills will enable HONA to develop cutting‑edge products to support the warfighter and needs of our customers. Your collaboration with the engineering and manufacturing team to satisfy customer requirements and provide innovative solutions will strengthen our relationships and drive customer satisfaction.

You will report directly to our Antenna Engineering Manager, and you’ll work at our Lansdale, PA location with an On‑site work 9/80 schedule.

The technology and business at this site have over 75 years of development of antenna products and subsystems for defense applications. The site includes over a dozen antenna test facilities including seven (7) anechoic chambers, Compact range, Nearfield scanner and multiple outdoor ranges. Additionally, the site includes specialty antenna test and tune stations, Load Chambers and High‑Power test facilities for both room temperature and wide ranging environmentally testing of antennas. A wide range of antenna products and subsystems spanning 3 MHz to 110 GHz are developed and manufactured at this site spanning narrow band patch antennas to 50:1 broad band antenna for low power and high‑power applications.

In this role as a Engr II Wireless RF Engineer specializing in Antenna technology at HONA, your impact will be significant. You will be at the forefront of developing and implementing cutting‑edge antenna technologies that have a direct impact on the organization and its customers. Your work will contribute to the advancement of aperture products, enabling smarter and more efficient military and commercial aerospace systems.

In this dynamic environment you will participate in designing, developing and testing sophisticated Antennas and RF feeds used in a wide variety of Aerospace and Defense applications, providing protection to our warfighters. The successful candidate will have a solid theoretical background in Electromagnetics and RF/Microwave theory and will also have creative skills to bring a product from concept to field use.

Responsibilities
  • Design and modeling of RF/Microwave Antennas and elements from 3 MHz to 110 GHz, for a variety of applications utilizing computer design tools such as HFSS, ADS, AWR, CST, GRASP, WIPL, and MATLAB
  • Microstrip, Horn, Spiral, Dipole, Blade, Patch, Reflector antenna and Interferometers / AESA antenna element design and fabrication including product qualification and support to production and technical proposals
  • Work with other engineers and advisors to support our varied antenna products and subsystems, (CNI, Munitions, Missile, Electronic Warfare, Situational Awareness & Self‑protection, Interferometers, AESA and other) antenna products and development
  • Design, analysis and test of RF/Microwave Antennas, hybrids, feed structures, filters and elements for a variety of applications
  • Documentation of design elements, antenna test procedures and support to Mechanical Engineering for design/drafting and R&M engineering.
  • Set up and operational testing and evaluation of engineering hardware in a laboratory environment
  • Part Time Travel (less than 10%) expected to support across sites for production support, as well as customer meetings, trade shows, etc.
  • Preparation and presentation of customer support meetings such as TIMs, PDRs, CDRs, etc.
Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Academics in Electromagnetics, RF and/or Antenna
  • 3 years’ experience in RF/Microwave Antenna design
  • 3 years’ experience with Antenna simulation software HFSS, CST, GRASP, WIPL, and MATLAB
  • 1 year experience with RF measurements including VSWR, Insertion Loss, Phase, Coupling, Pattern and Gain measurements, etc.
  • Experience operating PC using standard applications such as MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, etc.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
