JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

We are seeking motivated and talented engineers to join our C2 (Command, Control, and Communications) Innovations team in the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. The position involves working with senior technical staff to research, design, develop, integrate, and test advanced wireless RF communications systems. Locations include State College, PA; Annapolis Junction, MD; or Reston, VA.

You will:

  • Create algorithms and/or software designs
  • Develop C/C++ or equivalent code to interface with hardware and interfaces (SPI, I2C, etc.)
  • Integrate Software Defined Radio (SDR) hardware/software components as appropriate
  • Evaluate/develop communication security protocols

Additional responsibilities for higher-level positions include:

  • Lead work on complex communication problems affecting current and future products
  • Propose and lead new communication initiatives of national significance
  • Present papers, lead symposia, and chair committees as a recognized leader in communications

This position is available at multiple levels, depending on the candidate's qualifications. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science and 14 years of related experience are required, with higher education and experience preferred. A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is preferred.

The salary range for this position is $123,200 - $219,600.
