Job summary

Roseburg Forest Products in Riddle, Oregon, is seeking a maintenance technician to support the operation of sawmill equipment and conveyance systems. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, lubricate machinery, and collaborate with operators to keep production running safely.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with maintenance in a heavy industrial setting, understands lockout procedures, and can work weekends or holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Able to read and interpret maintenance instructions and manuals.
• Develop troubleshooting skills on machinery and plant systems.
• Communicate effectively with maintenance personnel and operators.

Responsibilities

• Maintain run of machine, motors and vehicles; oil and lubricate equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs as required.
• Run oil/grease lines, change bearings, and manage lubrication systems.
• Work safely in confined or elevated areas and use safety equipment.
• Follow lockout procedures and ensure a health work environment.
• Coordinate with lead man or supervisor and take orders as instructed.

Purpose

Responsible for maintaining the run of machine, motors and vehicles. Assess and monitor the condition of machinery. Oils and lubricates equipment and machinery throughout facility.

Required Qualifications

• Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as requested
• Must be decisive, craftsman, and maintain a clean work environment
• Must have basic hand tools
• Must exhibit proper use of all hand tools
• Learn and understand safe cutting and welding practices
• Be willing to accept orders and instructions once instructed by lead man or supervisor
• Develop good troubleshooting skills on machinery
• Become familiar with plant operations
• Complete all assigned PM’s on time
• Run all necessary oil and grease lines as needed, change bearings and install manual and automatic oiling systems, etc.
• Develop good preventative maintenance practices on all assigned machinery
• Stay until all work or assignments are completed
• Must be able to communicate and able to work well with maintenance personnel, supervisors and operators
• Must possess basic computer skills and keep daily work order schedule current in EAM
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Must be 100% safety minded and perform all tasks required safely and assist in the installation, repair, maintenance and operation of equipment
• Must learn and practice all safety and lockout procedures for equipment
• Must be able to work on various surfaces such as concrete, grating and steel
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Forklift certified
• Know how to properly use safety harnesses and lanyards
• Trained to use a man lift
• Capable of working in elevated areas
• Capable of working in tight and confined areas
• Safe use of all tools (hand and power)
• Work safely at all times and provide a health work environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous maintenance and/or lubrication experience
• Previous experience with industrial equipment
