Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers in Fort Worth, TX seeks a Technician II to provide drafting and design support across Civil, Transportation, and Utility projects. You will prepare construction documents, exhibits, and technical graphics with CAD/BIM tools under supervision.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit; strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and revise construction plans, profiles, cross-sections, details, and project exhibits using CAD/BIM software.
• Develop construction documents from engineer markups, sketches, notes, and redlines with increasing independence.
• Apply CAD drafting standards to ensure consistent layers, line styles, symbols, and sheet layouts.
• Incorporate QA/QC procedures and agency checklists to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Review own work for accuracy and completeness prior to submission.
• Assist engineers with preparation of technical documentation, exhibits, and deliverables.
• Coordinate with engineers, designers, and project managers to support objectives and schedules.
• Maintain organized project files for efficient team collaboration.
• Develop construction documents for underground utilities, paving, grading, drainage, erosion control, and small facility sites.

Overview:

The Technician II provides intermediate-level drafting and design support for engineering projects across multiple disciplines. This role works with limited supervision to prepare, revise, and coordinate construction documents, exhibits, and technical graphics in compliance with company standards and applicable agency requirements. The Technician II demonstrates increasing independence, technical proficiency, and the ability to review their own work for accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree or certificate in Computer-Aided Drafting/Design, Applied Science, or a related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience preparing civil, transportation, structural, utility, or aviation construction documents using CAD software.
• Proficiency in discipline-appropriate CAD/BIM software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit) software requirements may vary by assignment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing assignments and project priorities.
• Ability to operate a company vehicle and travel occasionally, if required by assignment.
• Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with overtime as needed.
