Job summary

Amedisys Home Health in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a Billing/Eligibility Specialist to verify insurance eligibility, obtain authorizations, and support Medicare and non-Medicare accounts.

You will collaborate with Payor Change Moves Specialists, enter data in billing systems, and help reduce write-offs while adhering to company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Post-secondary education or training in business or medical billing/collections.

Responsibilities

• Identifies new payor and verifies insurance eligibility status and benefit details for patients returned on batch eligibility responses.
• Identifies new payor and verifies insurance eligibility status and benefit details for patients returned on weekly claim denial report.
• Obtains initial authorization when required while maintaining compliance to medical record confidentiality regulations.
• Enters applicable coordination notes in billing and collections system to provide notification to Payor Change Moves Specialist(s) when a payor change is confirmed.
• Communicates directly with other members of Revenue Recovery and branch staff to provide insurance coverage information that may impact patient care, reimbursement, or patient financial liability.
• Assists the department in efficient collection of client and payor information to ensure accuracy.
• Works to reduce write-offs by completing new payor verification and authorization requirements in assigned timeframe.
• Complies with policies, procedures and regulatory mandates including but not limited to abiding to the terms of the Amedisys Compliance Program.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Preferred

• Two (2+) years' experience in medical office/home health benefit verification.
• Homecare Homebase experience
