The mission of the Louisiana Sales and Use Tax Commission for Remote Sellers is to administer and collect state and local sales and use taxes for remote transactions with fairness, accuracy, and integrity. Established under Act 274 of the 2017 Regular Legislative Session, we are committed to promoting uniformity and simplicity in taxpayer compliance while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct. The Tax Auditor 2 conducts detailed audits of individual and business tax filings, evaluates financial records for accuracy and compliance, identifies discrepancies, and ensures proper application of state tax laws. The role supports enforcement activities, taxpayer education, and contributes to ensuring accurate tax compliance for remote sellers.
Strong analytical and investigative skills, solid understanding of state and local tax statutes and audit procedures, proficiency in reviewing financial documentation, clear and professional communication with taxpayers, and the ability to manage complex audit cases independently while maintaining accuracy and fairness.

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

This position is responsible for conducting audits to determine the correct amount and distribution of sales taxes, collected and/or due for state and local taxing jurisdictions in Louisiana. This position will have the following duties:

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
