Revenue Integrity Charge Specialist Fully Remote

Position Purpose

Responsible for ensuring accurate CPT and ICD-10 documentation for patient billing, educating colleagues and providers on documentation and coding, maintaining charge capture documentation, and reviewing process adherence. Coordinates with stakeholders on system changes, oversees charge reconciliation, performs charge entry and reviews, and provides feedback for process improvements. Works closely with providers to enhance documentation supporting accurate coding.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrates Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values.
• Codes and validates charges for complex service lines, including surgical or specialty coding.
• Reviews charts and documentation thoroughly to ensure complete and accurate charge capture and coding compliance.
• Performs coding functions, including CPT, ICD-10, and claim review.
• Ensures daily charges are accurate and claims are clean for submission.
• Balances charges and adjustments, maintains productivity standards, and ensures regulatory compliance.
• Coordinates denials and assists with appeals, analyzing clinical documentation.
• Educates clinical staff on documentation importance for revenue integrity.
• Performs outpatient documentation reviews as needed.
• Researches charge discrepancies and communicates findings.
• Maintains logs, reports, and performs daily reconciliation processes.
• Maintains confidentiality and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 3+ years relevant coding and revenue cycle experience.
• Certifications such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC/COC required; CHC preferred.
• Knowledge of clinical processes, coding, charge capture, and audits.
• Experience with APC, OPPS, CCI edits, and EHR systems like Epic preferred.
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficient in MS Office applications.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Office environment, well-lit, temperature-controlled. Requires frequent communication, manual dexterity, concentration, and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
