Job description

Position Summary:
Provides leadership to the operations and support functions for a large billing and collections function. Leads the development of policies, procedures, computerized and electronic billing systems and supervision of staff. Works in close partnership with leadership, peers and enterprise departments to develop and implement operational efficiency and effectiveness for assigned revenue cycle functions. This is a hybrid position based in our Westwood office and will require an onsite presence on an as needed basis, per department and business needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the management and supervision of day-to-day billing operations for assigned operations functions within the SSC (Shared Services Center) and provides leadership and support while maintaining excellent patient and enterprise customer service.
  • Oversees production of monthly statistical reports for management of billing-related tasks. Analyzes trends, identifies causes of revenue declines and maintains statistics for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting. Keeps abreast of changes in payer billing requirements. Ensures development or modification of policies and procedures to comply with payer requirements for the SSC.
  • Develops and implements short and long-term strategies to manage assigned revenue cycle operations. Evaluates workflow and allocates resources to provide the highest levels of performance and efficiency. Analyzes process and business issues to identify best practice solutions and recommends and implements process improvements. Shares knowledge and demonstrates ability to lead teams in process redesign/change management.
  • Interacts and collaborates regularly with service-line billing managers and directors, the hospital's office for managed care, Patient Financial Services and the Physicians' Organization. Attends meetings, both internal and external, including the departmental administrative, finance, billing, and compliance meetings.
  • Assumes overall responsibility for HR management of the department including interviewing, hiring, orientating, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, evaluating, promoting, and discipline of employees. Fosters trust and collaboration amongst the team by enhancing employee engagement, addressing performance results, while overseeing department training and individual development.
  • Implement, monitor, and revise annual goals, objectives, and performance standards including team metrics for assigned revenue cycle functions. Assesses performance and uses metrics to identify opportunities and drive performance improvement. Collaborates with enterprise departments and initiatives to development system enhancements and automation opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • High school diploma/GED required; Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, accounting, finance or a closely related field preferred.
Experience:
  • Five years of revenue cycle experience including significant experience within the health insurance revenue cycle experience required.
