This position is designed to work from home 80 to 85 percent.
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree or one year of full-time experience in tax-related work within the Tennessee Department of Revenue's Collection Services Division.
Substitution of Experience for Education: Professional experience in financial analysis, investigation, negotiation of delinquent payments, or full-time experience in the Tennessee Department of Revenue may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis, up to four years.
Substitution of Education for Experience: None.
Necessary Special Qualifications: May be required to possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license, personal vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.
Examination Method: Education and Experience, 100%, for Preferred Service positions.
Under immediate supervision, responsible for routine tax collection and enforcement work. This entry-level position involves learning to collect delinquent taxes from businesses and individuals, interpreting and enforcing tax laws, rules, and regulations, and performing related tasks. It differs from Revenue Collection Officer Intermediate in that the latter performs collections at a higher responsibility level under general supervision.
*An appointment to this class includes a mandatory two-year training period after which successful completion results in reclassification to Revenue Collection Officer Intermediate. Poor performance may lead to demotion or termination.
