Job description

The Aquarion Water Authority (AWA) is a locally governed, not-for-profit water authority providing water service to more than 735,000 people in 60 municipalities across Connecticut. Based in Bridgeport, Connecticut, AWA is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and long-term stewardship of one of the state's largest water systems. Through local governance, operational expertise, and continued investment in critical infrastructure, AWA is committed to delivering safe, reliable water service to the communities it serves.

Job Summary

This role reports to the Controller and is responsible for accurate revenue and consumption reporting and monthly accruals for 3 states and 250K customers. Monthly Reporting write up to President includes analysis of current and prior month accruals, consumption variances, revenue variances, weather, key industrial customers, and any other variables relevant to earned revenues. This analysis is used to support monthly revenue decoupling entries. This role is also responsible for company-wide Revenue and Consumption budget development.

In addition, this role is responsible for operational efficiency analytics for 70 separate water systems. This requires compilation of data from Supply Operations, Billing Systems, and leak management systems in order to prioritize monthly field resources effectively. This data is also used to generate annual and semi-annual PURA, DPU and PUC (state required) reporting.

Use of Business Objects is a key area of focus, one which will enhance productivity of the entire Finance group through development of Reports and Analytics. This includes development of both internal and external consumption reporting and metrics.

This role requires mature, independent judgment and requires ability to comprehend complex business processes.

  • Compile data monthly from SAP/BOBJ and Hach Wims to track system delivery in 70 systems which includes 2 years of trend data for comparison.
