Job summary

The Washington State Department of Revenue's Compliance Division is seeking two in-training Revenue Agent 2 opportunities in Kent, WA. You will start with hands-on office training, with possible telework after setup, and progress through an 18‑month in-training plan.

When advancing to RA2, the salary ranges from $4,633 to $6,229 monthly, plus a 5% premium in King County. Responsibilities include locating delinquent taxpayers, taking collection actions, fieldwork, and maintaining case histories.

Qualifications

• Proven written and verbal communication to educate taxpayers on filing requirements.
• Ability to independently research and analyze complex financial information.
• Experience using investigative tools, databases, and third‑party sources.
• Ability to interpret state tax laws, rules, and policies in investigations.
• Skill in structured interviews and gathering information from uncooperative individuals.
• Experience negotiating payment plans and resolving delinquent accounts.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and locates delinquent taxpayers using databases and third‑party sources.
• Takes collection action against non‑compliant taxpayers, including warrants or liens.
• Conducts fieldwork and investigations at business locations, sites, and residences.
• Maintains accurate case histories and records of taxpayer interactions.
• Assists taxpayers with registrations, tax returns, and interagency guidance.
