Job summary

Clearwater Analytics is seeking a Revenue Accounting Manager to own the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of revenue recognition for a growing SaaS business. You will lead a team of revenue accountants, partner with Sales Operations, Legal, Billing, and FP&A, and drive improvements across the order-to-cash and revenue lifecycle.

This hands-on leadership role requires strong ASC 606 expertise, US GAAP knowledge, and experience with ERP and revenue systems.

Qualifications

• CPA or postgraduate degree in Finance.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years managing people.
• Hands-on ASC 606 experience in software or subscription business.
• Strong US GAAP knowledge and month-end close experience.
• Experience with external audits and SOX controls.
• Proficiency with ERP and revenue/billing systems and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead revenue accounting function and close activities (monthly, quarterly, annual).
• Apply ASC 606 to complex SaaS contracts and multi-element arrangements.
• Review revenue memos and technical accounting positions for non-standard deals.
• Partner with Sales, Legal, and Deal Desk to review terms and advise on accounting impact.
• Reconcile revenue, billing, and cash activity; ensure accurate GL reporting.
• Prepare revenue-related schedules, footnotes, and flux analyses for management and external reporting.
• Support external audits and SOX controls; own revenue controls and audit requests.
• Partner with FP&A on forecasts and SaaS metrics (ARR, ACV, deferred revenue).
• Drive process improvements and automation across order-to-cash and revenue lifecycle.

Job description

The Revenue Accounting Manager owns the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of Clearwater's revenue recognition. Reporting to the Head of Revenue Accounting and Operations, you will lead a team of revenue accountants, partner closely with Sales Operations, Legal, Billing, and FP&A, and strengthen the processes and controls that support a growing, complex SaaS business. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who is equally comfortable with technical accounting and coaching the team.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the revenue accounting function, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities related to revenue, deferred revenue, contract assets, unbilled receivables, ARR and ACV
• Apply ASC 606 to complex customer contracts, including multi-element arrangements, usage-based and variable consideration, modifications, and renewals
• Review and approve revenue recognition memos and technical accounting positions for non-standard deals
• Partner with Sales, Legal, and Deal Desk to review contract terms and advise on accounting impact before signature
• Reconcile revenue, billing, and cash activity, and ensure accurate reporting in the general ledger
• Prepare and review revenue-related schedules, footnote disclosures, and flux analyses for management and external reporting
• Support external audit and SOX compliance by owning revenue controls, documentation, and audit requests
• Partner with FP&A on forecasting, bookings-to-revenue analysis, and key SaaS metrics (ARR, deferred revenue, RPO)
• Drive process improvement and automation across the order-to-cash and revenue lifecycle, including system configuration and enhancements
• Partner with the Head of Revenue Accounting and Operations to set team priorities, define the function's roadmap, and align revenue operations (billing, collections handoffs, contract-to-cash workflows) with accounting requirements
• Hire, develop, and mentor team members, setting clear goals and fostering a culture of accountability and growth

Requirements:

• CPA or post graduate degree in Finance
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years managing people
• Deep, hands‑on experience with ASC 606 in a software or subscription business
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and month‑end close processes
• Experience supporting external audits and SOX-compliant controls
• Proficiency with an ERP and revenue/billing systems (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce) and advanced Excel skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical accounting to non-accountants

Preferred:

• Public accounting experience (Big 4 or national firm) and/or public company experience
• Experience in fintech, financial data, or enterprise SaaS
• Experience with revenue automation tools and process‑improvement initiatives
• Familiarity with multi‑entity and multi‑currency revenue accounting
• Experience with Zuora

Salary Range

$85,000.00 - $120,000.00 This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, other job‑related qualifications/skills, and geographic location (to account for comparative cost of living). The Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
