Job summary

Vrbo, part of Expedia Group, is seeking an Accountant to join its revenue accounting team in Springfield, Missouri. You will support core revenue accounting processes, gain expertise in revenue recognition, data analysis, and process improvement within a technology‑driven travel company.

Reporting to the Director, Accounting, you will partner with Sales, FP&A, Product Management, Legal, Tax, and technology teams to address accounting questions and ensure accurate, timely close.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Up to three years of accounting experience including internship or corporate accounting.
• Foundational knowledge of accounting principles, including reconciliations and close.
• Experience reviewing data, investigating variances, or analyzing financial information.
• Proficient Excel skills with attention to detail and confidentiality.
• Clear communication and a collaborative approach with teammates and partners.
• Familiarity with SQL, Power Query, Tableau, or similar tools.
• Experience supporting SOX controls, audits, or process documentation.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly and quarterly revenue accounting close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare and analyze reconciliations for restricted cash, revenue, deferred revenue, and accounts receivable.
• Assist with applying revenue recognition policies under U.S. GAAP and related standards.
• Review data, investigate variances, and resolve reconciliation differences.
• Communicate accounting issues and escalate risks as needed.
• Support SOX controls, documentation, and audit-ready support.
• Assist with audits by gathering schedules and evidence.
• Collaborate with Sales, FP&A, Product Management, Legal, Tax, and Technology teams.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and automate revenue accounting processes.
