Revenue Accountant

Fully Remote

Vaco has partnered with a technology and artificial intelligence company looking to build out their accounting functions including a Revenue Accountant to the team. This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606, overseeing billing processes, managing accounts receivable aging, and executing collection activities for high-end clients (high-dollar/low-volume).

Compensation: $75-90K + bonus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply and maintain compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards, including contract review and proper allocation of revenue.
  • Prepare, review, and issue customer invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain and reconcile accounts receivable sub-ledgers, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor A/R aging reports, proactively identify collection risks, and implement strategies to reduce outstanding balances.
  • Partner with Sales, Legal, and Operations teams to resolve billing discrepancies and contract-related issues.
  • Perform month-end and quarter-end close activities, including revenue recognition entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits and management reviews.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen revenue cycle efficiency, accuracy, and controls.
  • Assist in forecasting cash collections and contribute to working capital management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or progress toward CPA a plus.
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably with exposure to revenue recognition under ASC 606.
  • Solid understanding of billing, collections, and A/R processes.
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar) preferred.
