Job Description

We are seeking a revenue- and operations-focused individual for the position of Event Manager. You will support the General Manager at the University of Kansas, Kansas State University, and the University of Missouri, building strong relationships with guests and leading game day staff and office personnel. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a proven sales record, and the ability to work effectively with diverse colleagues.

The top candidate will perform efficiently under pressure, demonstrating excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

Operations (80-90%)

  • Lead event execution at partner schools for football game days and other events.
  • Develop relationships with staff to maintain high morale and a positive office culture.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate hourly staff.
  • Coordinate weekly meetings to schedule staff and discuss operational needs.
  • Manage quality control, inventory, maintenance, and budget processes.
  • Schedule and record staff work hours.
  • Design event layouts for tailgates and rentals.
  • Maintain office organization and cleanliness.
  • Manage relationships with game day vendors.
  • Oversee the e-commerce platform for tailgate sales.

Sales (10-20%)

  • Sell hospitality packages and event rentals.
  • Build relationships with partners and fan communities to generate leads and sales.
  • Be present at events to foster relationships, secure referrals, and grow sales.
  • Provide excellent guest service.
  • Engage with local businesses to increase engagement opportunities.
  • Meet or exceed weekly sales goals.

Requirements

  • Degree in business administration or similar preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to synthesize information.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Must reside in the Kansas City metro area or near Manhattan, KS; Columbia, MO; or Lawrence, KS, for on-site duties and meetings.
