Job summary

PGSUSA in Arlington, VA is seeking a retired L.E.O. armed security officer to provide a highly visible security presence at a national media facility.

The role requires guarding employees, executives, visitors, and client property while monitoring access and responding to incidents. Ideal candidates hold a DC SPO license, have law enforcement or security experience, and can work in a high-stress environment with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required or preferred.
  • Current DC Special Police Officer license is mandatory.
  • Active Shooter/Active Threat training is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a highly visible, professional armed security presence at the assigned national media facility
  • Protect employees, executives, visitors, guests, and client property.
  • Monitor access control, visitor screening, employee entrances, and restricted areas.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to security incidents, emergencies, alarms, disturbances, and threats.
  • Maintain a high level of situational awareness and identify potential security concerns before they escalated.
  • Respond to active-threat/active-shooter situations in accordance with established procedures and training.
  • Conduct security patrols and inspections as assigned.
  • Enforce client security policies, post orders, and procedures.

  • Coordinate with MPD and other emergency responders when necessary.
  • Exercise sound judgment regarding the appropriate use of force and escalation of incidents.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding client operations, personnel, security procedures, and sensitive information.
  • Provide professional customer service while maintaining a strong security posture.

Physical Requirements:

  • The position requires an individual who is physically capable of standing and walking for extended periods, conducting security patrols, and responding quickly to emergencies.
  • Candidates must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor and demonstrate the judgment, maturity, emotional control, and situational awareness expected of an experienced law-enforcement professiona l.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, military, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-stress environments while demonstrating professionalism and sound judgment.
  • Must pass a background check and drug test screening.
  • Retired in good standing from one of the following:
  • Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) or Secret Service
  • U.S. Park Police (USPP) or NCIS
  • U.S. Capitol Police (USCP)
  • Montgomery Counts (PD)
  • Prince George County (PD)
  • Current District of Columbia Special Police Officer (SPO) license
  • Current authorization/qualification to work armed in the District of Columbia
  • Prior law-enforcement or professional security experience
  • Active Shooter/Active Threat training
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Excellent situational awareness and observational skills
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during high-stress situations
  • Physically fit and capable of performing the essential duties of the position
  • Ability to pass all required company and client screening requirement
  • A current D.C. Special Police Officer (SPO) license is mandatory.
