Job summary

ReFocus Eye Health in Belleville, NJ is seeking a Retina Technician to join our growing ophthalmology team. This role supports ophthalmologists and retinal specialists with imaging, diagnostics, and patient care, including AMD, diabetic retinopathy, and more, with travel within northern NJ and a home office in Belleville.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification as COA or OMT is a plus.
• Experience in ophthalmology or retina-focused practices preferred.
• Proficient with retinal imaging equipment and diagnostic software.

Responsibilities

• Perform retinal diagnostic tests and imaging procedures (OCT, fluorescein angiography, retinal photography).
• Assist in pre- and post-operative care for retinal patients.
• Take patient histories and document visual symptoms and medical conditions.
• Educate patients on tests and procedures to ensure best results.
• Prepare patients for exams with proper positioning and comfort.
• Maintain and calibrate retinal imaging equipment.
• Record and organize test results; maintain patient records.
• Support retinal specialists during consultations and procedures.
• Maintain a sterile, organized clinic and exam rooms.
• Handle scheduling and follow-ups for results or treatments.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient privacy.
• Initiate and complete prior authorizations.
• Drug ordering and inventory management.
