Job summary

Zinc Cafe & Market in Newport Beach is seeking friendly Retail Team Members who love food and delivering joy to guests. You will greet customers, educate them on the menu, handle transactions on Toast, and help keep pastry displays fresh and appealing.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to all guests, including dine-in, takeout, and delivery.
• Greet guests with eye contact and a warm, friendly attitude; promote the Zinc brand.
• Educate guests on menu items and promotions; upsell where appropriate.
• Handle guest inquiries with kindness and escalate issues as needed.
• Operate the POS system (Toast) accurately for cash and card transactions.
• Ensure merchandise and pastry/dessert displays are neat and attractive.

Knowledge And Responsibilities

• Responsible for providing excellent customer service to all guests, while adhering to Zinc’s high standard of excellence. This includes guests that call in to place orders, stop by and grab something to go, or sit in with us to dine.
• Pays attention to guests and greeting them by making eye contact, smiling and spreading joy, while creating excitement about our brand. Positivity and friendliness are non-negotiables.
• Assists guests with any inquiries; able to educate them on menu items and any special promotions.
• Handles any guest situations with kindness and empathy, while adhering to company policy and practice is key.
• Uses sound judgment regarding when to Escalate guest issues to a manager for resolution.
• Has a solid knowledge and understanding of our menu, including all food products and drink selections, to be able to educate our guests and promote upselling of our offerings.
• Responsible for operating our POS system (Toast) and performing tasks such as cash handling and credit card processing with attention to accuracy.
• Knowledgeable about how to suggestively sell to enhance the guest experience and drive sales.
• Responsible for checking the quality of all the products on display.
• Ensure the merchandising and presentation of the rotation of displays for all pastries and desserts are in alignment with company direction, which includes refilling and organizing all pasties and beverages on display.
• Responsible for the preparation of all drinks for retail and dining room, including batches for the retail counter.
• Cleanliness is everyone’s focus! Responsible for keeping all areas of the store clean during and post operating business hours.
• Complete all opening, mid and closing procedures as well as daily checklist and as needed work assignments.
• Works consistently with a high sense of urgency, honesty, integrity, and as efficiently as possible.

Working Specific Stations, As Needed

• Barista – As a part of our mission, the barista plays a crucial role in creating expertly crafted brewed goods for our guests, of the highest quality.
• POS – Directly interacting with our guests, creating a warm and welcoming experience. Additional focal points of this station are packaging pastries to standard, suggesting made to order beverages, taking togo orders and inviting guests to return.
• Greeter – Where applicable, the greeter is responsible for offering a warm welcome to our guests and directing them to the appropriate area.
• Merchandiser – The merchandiser is a master at work, reinforcing the delectable charm of the bakery display. The merchandiser continually focuses on re-stocking products, ensuring the displays are aesthetically pleasing and bountiful!
• Pick-Up Specialist – The specialist focuses on spreading joy to our guests by ensuring all pickup and delivery orders are prepared, packaged, and fulfilled in a timely manner
• Completing other duties as assigned

What You Need To Have

• At least 1-2 years of Retail, Customer Service and food handling experience.
• High School Diploma/GED or Some College preferred.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays.
• Positive and passionate attitude!
• High sense of integrity and ownership.
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Time management, ability to prioritize and follow direction.
• Adherence to food safety guidelines.
