Job Description for Retail Specialist at W.S. Badcock Corporation

W.S. Badcock Corporation is seeking a Retail Specialist in New Bern, NC. This role involves performing various duties within the store and at designated store locations under the supervision of the Store Manager. Responsibilities include unloading merchandise trucks, managing inventory control, preparing merchandise for display, maintaining cleanliness, performing furniture touch-ups and repairs, and ensuring the timely movement of merchandise to the sales floor. The role also involves maintaining the store's exterior and grounds, and coordinating closely with store management to uphold customer service standards.

Responsibilities
  1. Control of store and customer merchandise.
  2. Secure and maintain company-issued tools.
  3. Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment; report repairs as needed.
  4. Inspect all merchandise before displaying or customer pickup.
  5. Handle inventory control and customer load-outs, especially for outlet stores.
  6. Assist in store security and safety measures.
  7. Follow loss prevention protocols and report unsafe conditions.
  8. Assist with customer pickups and unload merchandise from distribution centers.
  9. Use proper equipment, like dollies, to move merchandise safely and maintain vehicle security.
  10. Keep the showroom, office, restrooms, and store exterior clean and well-maintained.
  11. Perform any additional projects assigned by store management or district managers.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. At least six months of retail customer service, staff supervision, or delivery experience.
  3. Ability to read maps, shipping documents, and assembly instructions.
  4. Effective communication skills with customers and staff.
  5. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with good time management.
  6. Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills, adaptable to change.
  7. Mechanical skills for servicing upholstery and case goods.
  8. Valid, clean driver’s license; DOT certification eligibility if operating a box truck.
  9. Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and move 200 lbs. with assistance.
  10. Capability to stand, walk, sit, and perform physical tasks as required.

  • Indoor and outdoor work environments, with exposure to dust, fumes, mechanical parts, and electrical hazards.
