Job summary

In order to continually promote and create innovative products that support our vision, we are currently seeking a Retail Team Manager for various locations across the US.

This Retail Team Manager position sits with our Swedish Match affiliate.

The Retail Team Manager role is a critical role in our high-performing sales team. The successful candidate will manage all sales and executional functions within the respectively assigned geography which includes retail sales, account management and wholesaler sales. This role includes having direct account and/ or wholesaler responsibility in addition to team management. This role includes being player/ coach managing a team that sells and services PMI U.S.’s products in retail stores in assigned geography including gaining new item distribution, promotion execution, merchandising products, ensuring freshness on all products in all assigned stores, and developing and executing a strategic business plan at specific customers. This candidate will effectively coach his/ her team to utilize our data to develop fact-based presentations for our customers and follow our call process to achieve business goals. He/ she is self-motivated to achieve their personal best every day while creating an environment where cooperation, credibility, candor, consistency and a commitment to exceptional performance exists.

Your ‘day To Day’

  • Manages and provides direction to all assigned team members in support of the achievement of Company and Regional business objectives.
  • Personally develops and executes effective business plans at accounts assigned to him/ her.
  • Oversees and manages appropriate routing and call coverage of team members to ensure proper execution of distribution and merchandising objectives.
  • Analyzes the business building opportunities and develops executional plans for his/ her geography to accomplish company, region and district goals and initiatives.
  • Oversees and manages team to develop strategic business plans that will grow operating profits and revenue year to year with his/her assigned customer group. The focus will be against distribution, merchandising execution, identifying region growth opportunities and category management.
  • Communicate clearly goals and provide visibility to performance against goals.
  • Assess and evaluate the business results of all customers and recommend change strategies as needed.
  • Understands and translates national and regional policies, procedures and operating strategies and plans to his/ her team.
  • Accurately manages operational data collection from team to ensure timely reporting of retail and account metrics to Market Sales Manager
  • Provides on-going development feedback and support to team to address opportunities adhering to Performance Management principles and standards
  • Collaborates effectively with BDM and SAM/ KAM to ensure alignment of executional objectives within market in service of providing appropriate direction to TSMs.
  • Strives for operational excellence with efficient & effective use of resources
  • Collaborates and actively engages with Talent Acquisition in recruitment process for new TSMs in accordance with company recruiting and selection guidelines and policies.
  • Develops and ensures alignment of personalized development plans for direct reports based on Sales Competency Model.
  • Provide ongoing coaching to support team development in accordance with Performance Management standards and principles and Sales Competency Model
  • Communicates with Impact consistently with team, cross-functional partners and his/ her customers.
  • Creates a culture that fosters cooperation, credibility, candor, consistency, acting with integrity and a commitment to exceptional performance across the team and with cross-functional partners.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of retail sales, wholesale grocery or route sales required.
  • Strong planning, organizational, leadership, coaching, and teamwork skills required.
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills required.
  • Strong analytical skills in service of understanding complex data to develop actionable initiatives to address business opportunities required.
  • Strong understanding and utilization of resources such as:
    • Microsoft Outlook, Power Point, Excel, Word
    • MSA data
    • Salesforce (MAFs, store lists, trade programs, campaigns, customer contact information, authorized items)
    • Syndicated data
  • Fluent in English
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Annual Base Salary Range

$90,000 to $120,000
