Overview

The Retail Supervisor is expected to exemplify everything the brand represents in terms of personal image, overall behavior, quality of execution, good taste, and discretion. The Tarnished Truth brand pays homage to history while creating a modern and high-quality product and experience for all Guests visiting the property. Through our staff and our products, Tarnished Truth will foster an image of luxury, thoughtfulness, approachability, and ultimate hospitality.

As the Tarnished Truth Retail Supervisor, you are experienced both on the floor and in retail operations oversight. You will help pioneer the direction of our retail operation as an integral part of our store team. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for visual aesthetics, customer experience, and well-made goods. Strong communication skills and a relentless pursuit of a hospitable experience are essential. This position offers an opportunity to grow professionally and shape the trajectory of our expanding retail business.

The Retail Supervisor will oversee customer service, merchandising, inventory control, distillery tours and tastings, and other activities for Tarnished Truth Distilling Company’s small gift shop located within the Historic Cavalier Hotel. The role involves working directly with ownership to ensure compliance with state and federal laws related to distilled spirits sales within the gift shop.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and perform computerized cash register sales transactions and cash management
  • Manage a team of part-time and full-time Retail Sales Associates to provide an exceptional, personalized Guest Experience
  • Assist with training and developing Retail Sales Associates to meet and exceed performance metrics such as sales goals and tour conversion rates
  • Run sales and inventory reports; communicate insights to ownership
  • Assist in developing and implementing operating budgets, policies, and procedures
  • Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, or in person
  • Monitor sales transactions; resolve discrepancies; prepare, reconcile, and record cash receipts; and generate sales reports
  • Manage retail operations for after-hours on-site events and off-site pop-up shops
  • Coordinate ordering, receipt, and return of merchandise; verify invoices; resolve errors; and coordinate shipping/delivery as needed
  • Supervise daily operations including inventory replenishment, maintaining product displays, accepting and tagging shipments, and ensuring excellent customer service
  • Manage and participate in tours and tastings using our booking software
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal reporting requirements for distilled spirits sales
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience managing a retail operation
  • Knowledge of cash management, customer service standards, retail stock management, sales techniques, advertising, visual merchandising, and fiscal and personnel management principles
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
  • Proficiency in reconciling retail sales and preparing statistical reports
  • Ability to operate a computerized cash register
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to foster a cooperative work environment
