Job Summary

PetSmart’s Store Leader oversees safety, pet parent experience, operations, financial outcomes, and HR functions within the store. The role involves providing leadership, driving company culture, achieving results, and upholding PetSmart’s values and vision.

Essential Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

People Leadership

• Recruitment, interviewing, hiring, coaching, and termination decisions.
• Fostering an open-door culture, engaging with associates, and leveraging feedback tools.
• Creating schedules, supporting development, and recognizing team achievements.
• Delegating tasks and empowering team members.
• Addressing grievances and ensuring timely reviews.

Overall Store Experience

• Leading the associate and pet parent experience, ensuring safety and health.
• Building an environment focused on exceptional service.
• Collaborating on events and maintaining store standards.
• Ensuring safety, inventory management, and compliance.

Business Management

• Executing strategy and profitability goals.
• Analyzing reports, driving growth, and managing expenses.
• Creating schedules, managing payroll, and reporting.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years retail leadership or customer-focused experience.
• Full-time availability, flexibility, proficiency in computer applications.
• Strong communication, organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure.

Supervisory Responsibility

Oversees experience leaders, lead associates, and non-leader associates, following company policies.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Standing, walking, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, exposure to pets and environmental conditions.
