Job Summary

PetSmart’s Store Leader has leadership oversight of the safety of people and pets, pet parent experience, operational execution, financial outcomes, and all human resource functions within the store. This role is expected to provide exemplary leadership by driving the company culture and strategies, achieving targeted results, championing exceptional pet parent service, and ensuring efficient daily operations while upholding the company’s mission and values.

Essential Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• People Leadership: Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, coaching, and terminating staff; fostering an open-door culture; managing schedules; supporting associate development; delegating effectively; communicating store priorities; handling grievances; recognizing engagement; ensuring timely reviews.
• Overall Store Experience: Lead the associate and pet parent experience; ensure pets are safe and healthy; improve store environment; collaborate on events; maintain standards; conduct safety walks; respond to incidents; uphold brand standards.
• Business Management: Achieve profitability goals; analyze reports; identify growth opportunities; manage expenses; utilize resources; oversee payroll; prepare reports; support store needs.
• Qualifications: 4-6 years retail leadership; full-time availability; proficiency in computer applications; strong communication; organizational skills; ability to react under pressure.

Supervisory Responsibility

Typically oversees Experience Leader, Process Leader, up to six lead associates, and 10-70 non-leader associates, following PetSmart policies.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Requires standing, walking, climbing, lifting (up to 50 pounds regularly, over 100 pounds with team), exposure to pet hair, mechanical parts, and noise; handling live animals; accommodations available for disabilities.
