Position Summary

Party Planet Brandon is seeking an experienced, dependable, and hands‑on Retail Store Manager to oversee daily store operations and lead our retail team.

The Retail Store Manager is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, safe, and customer‑friendly store. This position oversees employees, scheduling, customer service, sales performance, inventory, merchandising, cash handling, order management, loss prevention, and operational reporting.

The ideal candidate is an organized and trustworthy leader who can manage the store independently, work alongside employees, solve problems, enforce company policies, and support Party Planet’s continued growth.

Job Duties and Manager Responsibilities
Store Operations
  • Open and close the store according to established procedures.
  • Oversee daily store operations and ensure assigned duties are completed properly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and customer‑friendly store environment.
  • Ensure opening, closing, cleaning, and operational checklists are completed accurately.
  • Protect store keys, alarm codes, passwords, customer information, and confidential business information.
  • Identify operational problems and recommend improvements to ownership.
  • Coordinate with ownership regarding store promotions, seasonal priorities, staffing needs, and business operations.
  • Submit a complete daily closing report and weekly management report.
Employee Supervision and Leadership
  • Supervise, schedule, train, coach, and evaluate employees.
  • Prepare employee schedules based on store needs, approved labor hours, and employee availability.
  • Assign daily responsibilities and monitor employee productivity.
  • Provide employees with clear instructions, performance expectations, coaching, and feedback.
  • Enforce Party Planet’s attendance, punctuality, dress‑code, phone‑use, customer‑service, and workplace‑conduct policies.
  • Document and address employee performance or behavioral concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Assist with interviewing, onboarding, and training new employees.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels while controlling labor expenses.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and respectful communication.
Customer Service
  • Lead by example in providing friendly, professional, and knowledgeable customer service.
  • Assist customers with party supplies, balloon products, balloon "deco", custom‑printing services, rentals, and other store offerings.
  • Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally.
  • Resolve routine customer‑service issues while protecting the company’s policies and interests.
  • Enforce Party Planet’s return, exchange, final‑sale, rental, custom‑order, and balloon‑order policies consistently.
  • Escalate serious customer concerns to ownership when necessary.
  • Maintain established customer‑service standards throughout every shift.
Sales and Performance Goals
  • Monitor daily and weekly sales performance.
  • Meet established weekly sales, labor, order‑accuracy, and customer‑service goals.
  • Help employees understand and work toward store sales and service targets.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sales, product recommendations, customer retention, and order value.
  • Support promotional campaigns, seasonal sales initiatives, and new‑product launches.
  • Track store results and communicate performance concerns or opportunities to ownership.
Order Management
  • Oversee WooCommerce and in‑store customer orders.
  • Manage balloon orders, rental reservations, custom‑printing jobs, pickups, and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure all orders are entered correctly, prepared accurately, and completed by the promised deadline.
  • Review upcoming orders and assign responsibilities to appropriate employees.
  • Organize workflow during busy periods and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Contact customers when order clarification, approval, payment, pickup, or delivery coordination is required.
  • Help prevent missed, delayed, incomplete, damaged, or inaccurate orders.
  • Report serious order issues to ownership promptly.
Inventory and Deliveries
  • Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or low‑stock merchandise.
  • Receive deliveries and verify merchandise against packing slips, invoices, or purchase documents.
  • Report missing, damaged, incorrect, or back‑ordered merchandise.
  • Oversee the restocking, pricing, labeling, and organization of products.
  • Conduct routine inventory counts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Monitor damaged merchandise, product waste, complimentary items, and inventory adjustments.
  • Maintain organized stockrooms and product‑storage areas.
  • Help ensure popular and seasonal products remain available whenever possible.
Merchandising and Store Presentation
  • Maintain store cleanliness, displays, and seasonal merchandising.
  • Ensure products are displayed neatly, safely, and according to Party Planet’s presentation standards.
  • Coordinate seasonal displays, promotional areas, and product resets.
  • Keep aisles, counters, work areas, entrances, and customer‑service areas clean and organized.
  • Ensure pricing and product signs are accurate and easy for customers to understand.
  • Identify merchandising opportunities that can improve sales and the customer experience.
Cash Handling and Loss Prevention
  • Manage daily cash counts, deposits, refunds, exchanges, discounts, voids, and register discrepancies.
  • Verify opening and closing register balances.
  • Ensure employees use their assigned point‑of‑sale logins and follow approved cash‑handling procedures.
  • Investigate and report cash shortages, overages, suspicious transactions, or unusual register activity.
  • Apply retail loss‑prevention procedures to reduce theft, shrinkage, waste, and unauthorized discounts.
  • Monitor refunds, exchanges, price changes, damaged merchandise, and complimentary products.
  • Secure deposits, cash drawers, store equipment, and sensitive business records.
  • Report significant financial or inventory discrepancies to ownership immediately.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional education in business, retail management, hospitality, or a related field is beneficial.
  • Previous retail, hospitality, or customer‑service experience required.
  • Previous store‑management, assistant‑management, or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supervising employees, preparing schedules, and managing daily retail operations.
  • Strong customer‑service skills and the ability to resolve concerns calmly and professionally.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of inventory control, merchandising, cash handling, and retail loss prevention.
  • Strong organizational, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer orders, employees, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Comfortable learning and using point‑of‑sale, inventory, e‑commerce, and order‑management systems.
  • Experience with Lightspeed, WooCommerce, or comparable systems is beneficial.
  • Dependable, professional, honest, and capable of protecting confidential information.
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance are required.
Schedule and Availability
  • This is a full‑time, on‑site position.
  • Must be available to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and certain holidays.
  • Additional availability may be required during Halloween, graduation, Christmas, and other peak seasons.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, reach, climb a step ladder, and perform routine stocking duties.
  • Ability to lift and move merchandise, store supplies, rental equipment, and customer orders safely.
  • Ability to work in an active retail environment and assist throughout the store as needed.
