Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run a clean, customer-first store and support the Store Manager with supervision, merchandising, deposits and daily operations.

You will lead cashier operations, train staff, and ensure planograms and inventory control are followed to maximize profitability and minimize losses. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for success in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to schedule staff, train employees and conduct safety meetings.
• Experience ensuring merchandise is stocked and presented according to planograms.
• Experience with cash handling, deposits, refunds and cashier accountability.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, operate cash register and scanner.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees and training; conduct safety meetings.
• Manage merchandise, stocking, unpacking, and display preparation; rotate stock as needed.
• Maintain accurate inventory, control damages and oversee markdowns and paperwork.
• Support planogram implementation and proper product presentation.
• Ensure financial integrity through cash handling and bank deposits; authorize refunds/overwrites.
• Assist in Store Manager's absence and supervise store operations.
