Job summary

POSITION SUMMARY

The Retail Store Associate supports the day-to-day operation of the venue’s retail store and is responsible for providing an exceptional guest experience while assisting with merchandise sales, point-of-sale transactions, stocking, inventory, merchandising, store appearance, and daily retail operations.

Reporting to the Retail Store Manager, the Retail Store Associate serves as a knowledgeable and welcoming resource for guests, maintains strong retail and service standards, and supports the overall sales and operational goals of the venue.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service to all guests.
• Welcome guests to the retail store and assist with merchandise selection, product information, and general questions.
• Process merchandise sales accurately using the point-of-sale system, including cash, credit card, and other approved payment methods.
• Follow established cash-handling procedures and immediately report transaction or cash discrepancies to the Retail Store Manager or Venue Management.
• Support retail sales goals by actively engaging with guests and identifying opportunities to recommend merchandise.
• Maintain knowledge of available merchandise, pricing, promotions, and product offerings.
• Assist with merchandise displays, product placement, store presentation, and visual merchandising.
• Restock merchandise throughout the day and ensure displays remain organized, attractive, and appropriately stocked.
• Assist with receiving, unpacking, organizing, labeling, and storing merchandise and operating supplies.
• Participate in regular inventory counts and assist with maintaining accurate merchandise and stock records.
• Notify the Retail Store Manager when merchandise, supplies, or other inventory items need to be replenished.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and visually appealing retail environment.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures as assigned.
• Maintain proper organization of stockrooms, storage areas, merchandise displays, and point-of-sale areas.
• Respond to guest questions and concerns professionally and elevate service issues to the Retail Store Manager or Venue Management when appropriate.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, safety requirements, loss-prevention practices, and operational standards.
• Support venue promotions, special events, activations, and other guest experience initiatives as needed.
• Collaborate with other venue departments to support overall operations and the guest experience.
• Maintain flexibility to work daytime, afternoon, and evening shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous retail, customer service, hospitality, attractions, entertainment, museum, or other guest-facing experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, coworkers, and management.
• Comfortable operating a point-of-sale system and processing cash and credit card transactions.
• Familiarity with Lightspeed POS or a similar point-of-sale system is considered an asset.
• Basic understanding of retail sales, merchandising, stocking, and inventory procedures preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately complete transactions and maintain merchandise.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependable, punctual, professional, and guest-focused.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn merchandise offerings, operating procedures, and venue service standards.
• Flexibility to work daytime, afternoon, and evening shifts, including weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and perform physical activities associated with retail operations.
• Ability to stock merchandise, receive deliveries, move inventory, and maintain merchandise displays.

PAY AND BENEFITS

• Hourly rate of $17.00 per hour.
