Job summary

MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries in Jefferson City is seeking an energetic Retail Shift Supervisor to join our Ten Mile store team. You will supervise, train staff, and ensure excellent customer service while upholding our mission of Changing Lives Through the Power of Work.

Qualifications

• No degree required; High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• 1 year of retail management experience or previous Goodwill Retail/ Warehouse experience required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including customer service, conflict resolution and teamwork.
• Leadership skills like decision-making, motivation, goal-setting, and problem solving.
• Comfortable with workplace technology like registers, scheduling and inventory management software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and train assigned staff and ensure core duties are performed.
• Provide superior customer service to ensure donor/shoppers/staff retention and de-escalate dissatisfaction.
• Coach employees on performance, including discipline up to termination.
• Assign daily duties to achieve operational tasks with independent judgment.
• Identify employees for advancement based on performance.
• Safeguard company property and report theft or misconduct.

Qualifications

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and train assigned staff and ensure they perform their essential/primary functions.
• Provide superior internal and external customer service to ensure repeat donors, shoppers, and staff retention and de-escalate customer dissatisfaction quickly and effectively.
• Coach and counsel employees concerning the performance of their job duties, including discipline up to and including termination.
• Exercise independent judgment in assigning daily job duties to achieve daily operational tasks.
• Helps to identify and recommend employees with proven performance for advancement.
• Safeguards company property and personal information from harm, damage, or theft. Reports any theft, misappropriation, unethical/inappropriate behavior, or unauthorized possession of company property to a member of management, Human Resources, or Risk Management.
• Must read, follow, model, and enforce all agency policies, procedures, and values.
• Utilizes efficient staffing methods to ensure the store is staffed appropriately. Arranges for replacements of absent employees when necessary. Audits, edits, and approves payroll.
• Eliminates wasteful practices through process improvement.
• Maintains a professional appearance, adhering to MERS Goodwill’s dress code.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Monthly Bonus up to $500.00
• Individual and family medical benefits for full-time employees working 30 or more hours per week.
