Job summary

Scottsdale Arts in Scottsdale, AZ invites you to join as a part-time Retail Sales Rep. You will engage visitors, answer questions about merchandise, and create memorable shopping experiences while maintaining store displays and inventory.

Experience in retail is preferred; the role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends, friendly service, and comfort with technology and POS systems. Compensation is $19.47/hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of retail sales or customer service experience.
• Ability to handle cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
• Friendly, approachable demeanor and strong communication.
• Basic math and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet store visitors and provide accurate information on merchandise.
• Operate POS, credit card processor, iPad Square, and calculator.
• Perform opening/closing procedures and balance registers; stock and display merchandise.
• Gift wrap merchandise as needed.
• Orient visitors to exhibitions and programs.
• Support store volunteers and keep areas neat.
• Maintain store organization and assist with other duties.
• May assist during evenings/weekends.

Important Details to Know:

• Compensation: $19.47/hour
• Shift/Hours: Flexible up, but must be able to work evenings until 9:00pm and weekends.
• Monday: Closed
• Tuesday: Closed
• Wednesday - Sunday: 11:00am - 5:00pm, some shifts 3:00pm - 9:00pm
• Job Type: Non-Exempt, Part-time up to a maximum of 28 hours per week.

Here is what you will get to do:

1. Converses with store visitors regarding merchandise, provides accurate product information, answers questions about merchandise, and shows/demonstrates merchandise. Engages customers to ensure an optimum shopping experience.
2. Operates a variety of retail equipment, including cash register, POS system, credit card processor, iPad Square, and calculator.
3. Performs opening and closing procedures, including balancing registers.Assists in stocking, labeling, and displaying merchandise.
4. Gift wraps merchandise as needed.
5. Orients visitors to exhibitions and programs through Scottsdale Arts.
6. Provide support and direction for store volunteers as needed.
7. Ensures store and back areas are kept neat, clean, and organized.
8. Performs other duties as required

Requirements

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education

• High school or equivalent

Experience

• One year of retail sales or customer service experience

Attributes

• Ability to add, subtract, and calculate percentages.
• Experience handling cash, check and credit card transactions accurately and with integrity.
• Ability to solve practical problems
• Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Creative merchandising skills helpful
• Previous experience with POS and ticketing software preferred
• Demonstrated interest or experience in the arts preferred
• Must be able to utilize tech equipment needed to run the store
• Must be friendly, open, and approachable to impact customer service positively.

Work Environment

• May occasionally be exposed to outside elements.
• Employees are frequently required to use their hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and tools or use controls to talk or hear.
• Employees are required to stand or walk for long periods of time; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Occasionally lifts or moves items up to 25 pounds.
