Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store associate to act as the point of contact for customers, assist in setting and maintaining plan-o-grams and programs, stock merchandise, and help maximize profitability and customer satisfaction while protecting company assets.

You will unload trucks, open cartons, build displays, rotate and face stock, assist customers, operate the cash register, collect payments, and keep the store clean.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal and oral communication skills are essential.
• Knowledge of safety policies and practices is required.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram guidance.
• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
• Basic mathematical skills are needed.
• Experience with IBM cash register functions is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and stock merchandise.
• Receive, open, and unpack cartons; store in stock room or move to sales floor.
• Build merchandise displays and rotate stock on shelves.
• Restock recovered merchandise and ensure shelves are faced.
• Assist customers in locating merchandise and answer questions.
• Operate cash register and process payments; bag items and make change.
• Assist with ordering merchandise using handheld scanners as needed.
• Keep front end clean and assist with sidewalk displays when required.
