Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a retail associate to act as the point of contact for customers, maintain plan-o-grams, stock merchandise, and build displays. You will assist customers, operate the cash register, and help keep the store clean and organized.

The role involves unloading trucks, stocking, greeting customers, and using handheld scanners for ordering and inventory. High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to lift up to 40 pounds may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons and totes; store merchandise in the stock room or move to the sales floor.
• Build merchandise displays.
• Stock and rotate merchandise on shelves.
• Assist customers by locating merchandise.
• Operate cash register, total purchases, and bag merchandise.
• Collect payment and make change.
• Assist with ordering merchandise using hand-held scanners.
• Greet customers.
• Maintain store cleanliness and safety.
