Job Summary

PetSmart’s Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) engages with pet parents and their pets, providing positive experiences and upholding company values. Responsibilities include store cleanliness, pet safety, and direct pet care within the store.

Job Responsibilities

• Enhance pet parent experience in-store, over the phone, and online
• Greet pet parents and answer questions
• Prepare online orders for pickup
• Care for store-owned pets (feeding, watering, cleaning habitats)
• Maintain store cleanliness and display standards
• Assist with pricing, merchandising, and promotional activities
• Recommend and sell products, services, and live pets
• Administer medications as directed by veterinarian
• Promote events like adoptions and charity drives
• Ensure safety for staff, pets, and customers
• React promptly to sick or injured pets and seek veterinary care
• Assist in various store areas as needed
• Participate in company culture initiatives and follow policies

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays
• Ability to handle pressure and maintain composure

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Stand, walk, climb ladders, handle objects, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and see clearly
• Lift/move up to 50 lbs frequently; team lift over 100 lbs occasionally
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, pet hair, moderate noise, live animals
