Job Summary

PetSmart’s Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) engages with pet parents and their pets, providing positive experiences while upholding our company's values. Responsibilities include store cleanliness, pet safety, and direct pet care within our store.

Job Responsibilities

• Enhance the pet parent experience in person, over the phone, at the register, and online.
• Greet pet parents and answer questions throughout the store.
• Prepare online orders for in-store pickup, ensuring a positive experience.
• Care for store-owned pets, including feeding, watering, and cleaning habitats.
• Maintain store cleanliness standards.
• Assist with pricing, merchandising, and promotional displays.
• Promote and sell merchandise, services, and live pets.
• Administer medications as directed by a veterinarian.
• Support store events like adoptions and charity fundraisers.
• Ensure a safe environment for staff, pets, and customers.
• Respond promptly to sick or injured pets and seek veterinary care as needed.
• Assist in various store areas as required.
• Participate in our culture of belonging and recognition.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to react calmly under pressure.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Stand, walk, climb ladders, and handle objects; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Vision abilities include depth perception.
• Lift up to 50 pounds frequently; team lift more than 100 pounds occasionally.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, pet hair, and moderate noise; handling live animals is common.
