Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store associate to serve as the frontline contact for customers and to help set and maintain plan-o-grams and programs. You will stock merchandise, build displays, rotate stock, assist customers, and protect company assets in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities include unloading trucks, receiving shipments, operating the register, helping customers locate items, and maintaining cleanliness.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons and totes; store merchandise in stock room or move to sales floor.
• Build merchandise displays.
• Stock merchandise and rotate/facilitate facing on shelves.
• Restock recovered merchandise.
• Assist customers by locating merchandise.
• Maintain store cleanliness (dust, mop, restrooms, stockroom).
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
• Greet customers.
• Operate cash register and scanner; total and bag purchases.
• Collect payment and give change.
• Assist with ordering merchandise using hand-held scanners.
• Clean front end and help set up sidewalk displays.
