Job summary

Goodwill is seeking a Retail Cashier in Florida to assist customers and co-workers with merchandise and sales. You will operate the cash register, give accurate change, maintain store presentation, and support a friendly shopping environment.

The role requires strong reliability, the ability to follow policies, and willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays. Prior retail experience is preferred and a high school diploma is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service by assisting customers in locating and purchasing goods.
• Operate cash register, ring customer sales, provide accurate change; ensure correct processing of transactions.
• Display merchandise in an eye-catching and pleasing manner and ensure old goods are rotated weekly.
• Place items on sales floor and maintain a tidy appearance of sales racks.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the store; follow safety procedures.
• Meet or exceed the weekly sales and production quota for the store; maintain attendance and punctuality.

• Base Pay $15.00 - $15.00 / Hour

Requirements

Must have open availability and reliable transportation.

• Must be able to use a cash register, calculator, credit card processing machine correctly and make change accurately;
• Good work ethic;
• Must be able to demonstrate good judgment in recognizing items appropriate for sale;
• Able to follow instructions and comply with policies and procedures;
• Able to work with minimal supervision;
• Willingness to mentor and train co-workers;
• Cross train in production and sale of goods, as requested.

Primary Functions

Under the direct supervision of the Retail Manager, the Cashier is responsible for assisting customers and co-workers adding and pulling merchandise to the sales floor, as needed.

Essential Functions

• Provide superior customer service by assisting customers in locating and purchasing goods;
• Operate cash register, ring customer sales, provide accurate change;
• Display merchandise in an eye-catching and pleasing manner and assure that old goods are removed on a scheduled weekly rotation;
• Place items on sales floor and maintain a tidy appearance of sales racks
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the store;
• Understand and perform all procedures necessary to meet or exceed the weekly sales and production quota for the store.
• Maintain an acceptable attendance and punctuality record;
• Participate in staff meetings and training, as required;
• Follow all safety procedures; Report accidents/injuries and safety concerns to the appropriate leadership staff;
• Adhere to two-hour floor check lists as assigned by leadership;

Physical Requirements

While performing this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, push, pull, kneel, crouch or crawl. Most activities involve repetitive upper body movement and bending.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds (unless otherwise restricted).
Must have good hand-eye coordination. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
