Job summary

Ocean Reef Club in Florida is seeking a retail associate to assist customers, promote merchandise, and support management with merchandising, inventory control, and daily operations.

Responsibilities include greeting customers, demonstrating product features, restocking, maintaining cleanliness, and closing out daily sales with accurate paperwork. The role requires an outgoing personality, strong communication, and teamwork, with weekend/evening availability.

Qualifications

• High school education required or equivalent.
• Previous retail sales experience is a plus.

• Basic math; familiar with cash handling and balancing end of day reports.
• Proficiency with Excel and Word is preferred.

Responsibilities

Summary

To offer superior customer service while actively selling merchandise and assisting management in merchandising, understanding inventory control, special events and daily operational duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist customers with purchases in a courteous, cheerful, positive, and helpful manner.
• Know product features and benefits to promote multiple selling and up selling.
• Know and address members by name, acknowledge all customers upon entrance to each shop in a professional, personable, positive manner.
• Open shop on time and be ready for customers as soon as shop is open.
• Shop must be 100% clean, straightened and stock before leaving each evening.
• Put new merchandise out as soon as it arrives.
• Re-stock merchandise daily and continuously maintain shop’s appearance throughout the day by refolding, straighten, restock merchandise and work space area.
• Maintain daily housekeeping standards by dusting, cleaning and vacuuming each day and as needed.
• Adhere to set merchandising standards and operational standards.
• Close out each day by balancing day’s business and turning in proper paperwork.
• Maintain accurate accounting of newspaper procedures if applicable.
• Maintain proper inventory levels of merchandise and supplies in store.
• Micro soft excel and word experience preferred

Supportive Functions

• Assist in inventories whenever requested
• Assist in other retail shops when needed or retail special events.
• Promote our Club owned stores by referral.
• Cover other shops at lunch break.
• Change displays if running low in groupings.
• Keep all displays fresh and interesting.

Additional Requirements

• Vacations are taken between June 1 and November 1, not during season.
• Work weekends, nights, extra days or overtime when requested by manager.
• Must wear neatly pressed uniform at all times and adhere to Club’s policy.
• Always wear name tag at work.

Education and/or Experience

High school education. Previous retail sales experience a plus.

Language Skills

Must be able to comprehend the English language in order to communicate with co-workers and fully understand job assignments.

Attendance, Appearance and Conduct

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Ocean Reef Club from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry and report deadlines, associate may be required to work varying schedules to meet the business needs of the Club and report deadlines.

Proper grooming is required by all associates and is described in detail in the Associates Handbook. Associates should review this policy and make sure that at all times they present themselves for shifts looking clean, neat and professional.

As a condition of employment, all associates agree to fully comply with Ocean Reef Club rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of Club facilities. Associates who violate Club rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
