Job Family Group: Retail Banking Sales & Service

Deliver exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects. Identify customer needs and provide advice regarding financial solutions that are in their best interests. Collaborate within the branch and with BMO partners to deliver excellent customer experience and meet business goals.

U.S. Only: This position will act as an originator of consumer loans as defined by Regulation Z, Regulation G, and the S.A.F.E. Act. Federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry is required. The Bank will guide you on registration requirements. A criminal background review and credit check are also necessary. Restrictions on acting as a real estate agent may apply.

  • Proactively engage with existing customers and prospects, providing needs-based assessments to grow loyalty and identify opportunities.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify financial solutions and preferred banking channels, recommending tailored solutions including everyday banking, investments, lending, home financing, and small business solutions.
  • Advise clients on digital and self-serve options to make banking easy and fast.
  • Support customer transactions based on traffic.
  • Expand BMO’s business by reaching out, setting appointments, and building community relationships.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements during credit audits and quality checks.
  • Apply risk management frameworks to protect assets and maintain portfolio quality.
  • Make credit recommendations for personal loans and home financing, adhering to sound principles and policies.
  • Be a collaborative team member within the branch and market.
  • Understand customer banking and credit card needs, integrating marketing strategies into conversations.
  • Organize work information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Find creative ways to personalize each customer’s experience.
  • Contribute to improving the overall branch customer experience.
  • Support business results and branch experience.
  • Work at multiple branches as needed; schedule may vary weekly.
  • Follow risk and compliance policies to safeguard customer assets and privacy.
  • Stay informed about the financial marketplace, legal, and regulatory environment.
  • Maintain knowledge of banking products, practices, and trends.
  • Report suspicious activities related to money laundering.
  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Handle complex tasks and escalations within rules and limits.
  • Analyze issues and determine next steps.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Typically 2-3 years of relevant experience and post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • Canada-specific: Investment sales registration completed if applicable.
  • Lending qualifications and designations.
  • Knowledge of personal and small business customer needs and solutions.
  • Experience with retail investments and lending products.
  • Financial services experience is an asset.
  • Proficient with social media, tablets, smartphones, and online tools.
  • Experience in customer service or sales, with a focus on personal experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, problem-solving, and adaptability skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational, collaboration, and analytical skills - Good.

Salary: $41,715.00 - $67,000.00

Pay Type: Salaried

Salaries vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and may include commissions. Part-time salaries are prorated.
