Job Summary: The Retail Pharmacy Technician Trainee provides technical support under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in the outpatient/retail pharmacy. Responsibilities include preparing take-home medications, compounding, inventory management, utilizing pharmacy equipment and technology, performing drop-off and pick-up duties, and quality control tasks. The technician also participates in training new technicians and pharmacy students and bedside delivery to patients.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

• Renew routine/maintenance medication requests via phone, fax, patient site, or E-prescription queue; manage related administrative tasks.
• Respond to formulary and medication assistance inquiries, prioritizing effectively and safely.
• Assist with the BIDMC transition of care program and medication reconciliations.
• Investigate and resolve prescription issues; communicate with patients for clarification.

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Mass Registered Pharmacy Tech license preferred, or Registration Pharmacy Technician Trainee, or Certificate Certified Pharmacy Technician.
• 1-3 years related experience in Healthcare or Retail Pharmacy.
• Knowledge of prior-authorization workflows, payer relations, prescription claims adjudication, and reimbursement procedures.
• Strong relationship-building skills with diverse professionals.
• Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with prior authorizations.
