Description

Under pharmacist supervision, supports the pharmacy department in areas such as inventory management, medication preparation, distribution, compounding, processing medications and supplies, handling specialty medications, and maintaining medication histories. Assists with all medication processing functions, including answering phones, taking refill orders, entering orders into the system, preparing medications for pharmacist review, and preparing medications for disbursement, shipment, or delivery. Responsibilities may also include handling supplies, stocking prepackaged items, maintaining inventory, delivering supplies, maintaining records, and distributing supplies. May assist in bulk compounding and preparing IV solutions. Collaborates with pharmacy staff to minimize medication errors, exercises sound judgment, anticipates potential issues, and applies policies and procedures to resolve or escalate problems.

  • 2+ years of relevant experience preferred
  • No criminal history related to drug handling
  • Strong mathematical calculation skills required
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy technician duties in assigned areas, with ability to work within established procedures under moderate supervision
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in typing and Microsoft Office applications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Indiana Pharmacy Technician License or intern/extern license if enrolled in an accredited pharmacy college
  • Pharmacy Technician National Certification required unless enrolled in an accredited pharmacy college
