Job summary

Premier-Systems is hiring a Retail Pharmacy Technician in Indianapolis, IN for a full-time role. The position pays hourly, $19–$21 per hour, based on experience, with holidays and vacation benefits.

The technician will assist pharmacists with daily duties, maintain patient profiles, manage prescriptions, and help with inventory and training of new staff. Indiana license or intern/extern license is required or pursued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Indiana Pharmacy Technician License or intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
• One year retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• National certification preferred but not required.
• No criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs; not listed on OIG list.

Responsibilities

• Assist Pharmacist(s) with daily functions.
• Assist Pharmacist(s) with training of new technicians.
• Receive and verify prescriptions or refill requests for accuracy.
• Fill pharmaceutical preparations according to prescriptions.
• Maintain proper storage and ensure security of drugs.
• Establish and maintain patient profiles.
• Answer telephones to discuss or answer patient requests or questions.
• Assist patients at the pharmacy by answering questions or locating items.
• Receive and store incoming drug or related supplies.
• Verify invoices and quantities received.
• Monitor medications in inventory and keep stock current.
• Work with buyer to keep medications at acceptable levels.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY:
Prepares medication under the direction of a pharmacist and assists with related job duties.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITES:

• Assist Pharmacist(s) with daily functions
• Assist Pharmacist(s) with training of new technicians
• Receives and verifies written prescriptions or refill requests for accuracy
• Fills pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescriptions
• Maintains proper storage and ensures necessary security of drugs
• Establishes and maintains patient profiles
• Answers telephones to discuss or answer patient requests or questions
• Assists patients at the pharmacy by answering simple questions, locating items, or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information
• Receives and stores incoming drug or other related pharmacy supplies
• Verifies invoices and physical quantities received of incoming items
• Monitors medications in the pharmaceutical inventory to keep in stock medications current and disposes of outdated medications
• Works with buyer or purchasing agent to keep medications in stock to acceptable levels
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED is required
• Requires Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy
• One year or more of retail pharmacy experience preferred
• National certification is preferred but not required
• Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs
• Must not be listed on the Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals/Entities

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Requires the ability to measure and/or count out appropriate quantities of pharmaceuticals
• Requires the ability to operate computer software
• Requires the ability to clean and maintain equipment or work areas
• Requires understanding of basic language and terminologies used in the pharmaceutical field
• Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Requires excellent customer service skills
• Requires strong mathematical calculation skills
• Requires execution of basic pharmacy technician skills in assigned areas and work under close supervision or under clearly defined procedures
