Job summary

Deaconess seeks a Pharmacy Technician to assist in drug distribution, billing and patient record keeping under the supervision of a Pharmacist. The role supports 24/365 pharmacist access and a mix of centralized/decentralized automation to ensure safe medication handling.

Responsibilities include drug distribution, IV compounding, clerical tasks, packaging, equipment operation, and maintaining records. Indiana license or eligibility is mandatory with a one-year certification timeline.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• 1–2 years pharmacy experience preferred.
• 6–12 weeks of on-the-job training based on experience.
• May learn tasks within 6–12 months.
• Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
• Must be licensed or eligible for Indiana license.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician designation within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides drug distribution support under pharmacist supervision.
• Performs clerical functions.
• Packages medications in unit-dose packaging.
• Maintains departmental systems and records.
• Interprets prescriptions and prepares dispensing within outpatient areas.
