Job summary

OptumRx at Nationwide in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a Client Retail Pharmacist Per Diem. This onsite role provides final prescription verification, patient counseling, and support for pharmacy operations as part of a flexible PRN coverage model.

The position requires an active Ohio pharmacist license, PharmD or BS in pharmacy, and at least 1 year of retail experience. Shifts are 7:30am–5:30pm, M–F, with on-call coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
• Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in Ohio in good standing.
• 1+ year retail pharmacist experience preferred and ability to work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and investigate issues within the pharmacist's area of expertise.
• Use data to identify and solve problems within the area of expertise.
• Investigate non-standard requests with assistance as needed.
• Prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines.
• Counsel patients and respond to medication-related questions.
• Perform final pharmacist verification of dispensed prescriptions.
• Oversee activities of pharmacy technicians and staff on duty.
• Organize pharmacy workflow to ensure safe, accurate dispensing.
• Support pharmacist-in-charge and leadership with operations and compliance.
• Maintain competency for PRN coverage for planned time off or emergencies.
