Compass Memorial Healthcare in Marengo, IA seeks a licensed pharmacist to join our team. The role involves rotating 4 x 10-hour shifts Monday–Friday, with occasional coverage of the North English retail pharmacy. Hours are 7:00 A.M.–7:00 P.M. (Mon) and 7:00 A.M.–5:30 P.M.

(Tue–Fri). Opportunities for loan forgiveness may exist. You will interpret prescriptions, counsel patients, supervise staff, and ensure regulatory adherence across CMH Pharmacy locations.

Formación

• Pharmacy degree required (PharmD or B.S. in Pharmacy).
• Active Iowa pharmacist license or current license application.
• Ability to work with pharmacy technologies relevant to the position.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; English fluency required.

Responsabilidades

• Provide tele-pharmacy coverage and supervision of the North English CMH Retail Pharmacy.
• Advise prescribers, nurses and patients on drug therapy, actions and interactions.
• Label and dispense medications accurately to patients.
• Supervise technicians and interns in packaging, labeling and distribution of medications.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local pharmacy laws and regulations.
• Assist with inpatient pharmacy operations during downtime, including anticoagulation services and discharge counseling.

Schedule

This position rotates 4 10 hour shifts Monday through Friday with occasional coverage of our North English retail pharmacy. Hours of operation are Mondays 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. and Tuesday through Friday 7:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Position will be staffed at either CMH Pharmacy-Marengo or CMH Pharmacy-North English
• Provide tele-pharmacy coverage and supervision of the North English CMH Retail Pharmacy and provide staffing as needed to meet minimum requirement of 16 pharmacist hours per month per Iowa law.
• Interprets and evaluates all physicians’ medication orders with clarification as deemed necessary.
• Advises the prescriber, nurse and patients as required regarding the contents, therapeutic action, utilization, and possible adverse reactions or interactions of drugs.
• Accurately labels and dispenses medications to patients.
• Participate in patient counseling in accordance with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy laws and regulations for new prescriptions.
• Complete monthly inspections of CMH Pharmacy and CMH Pharmacy – North English, as required by Iowa Board of Pharmacy.
• Controls the disposition of narcotics, other scheduled drugs, dangerous drugs, and investigational drugs as required by state and federal regulations.
• Directly supervises technicians and interns in the proper packaging, labeling, and distribution of medications.
• Assists with the check-in and storage of all drugs and supplies in the absence of the pharmacy technician.
• Has working knowledge of compliance issues (specific to job responsibilities), about federal, state, and local law and regulation. Job performance is consistent with regulatory guidelines.
• During downtime, may assist with the technical operations of the inpatient pharmacy including, but not limited to, anti-coagulation services and discharge patient counseling.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• a. Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree is required.
• b. Current and active licensure or evidence of application for licensure as a registered pharmacist in the State of Iowa.
• c. Must have the ability to work with associated technologies relevant to the position.
• d. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in written form, needs and solutions with all levels of the organization.
• e. Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• f. Must possess valid Mandatory Reporter training for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse, or within 6 months of hire.
• g. Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
