What is a Retail Parts Pro?
Professional level sales position capable of supporting advanced functions of the DIY business. The role requires expert knowledge of store systems, advanced automotive systems, and parts knowledge. It involves advanced identification, troubleshooting, and project assistance for DIY customers. The role can source parts from various channels including special orders, FDO, second sources, etc. It also requires in-depth knowledge of store inventory and maintenance processes. This is a full-time position.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide GAS2 selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls.
- Achieve personal and store sales goals and service objectives.
- Manage DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.
- Ensure high standards of customer service and store appearance.
- Perform key holder responsibilities such as task assignment, safety, and opening/closing duties.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist in store inventory processes including truck put away, shoot outs, cycle counts, back stock, etc.
- Maintain store cleanliness including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot.
- Provide DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.

- Parts and automotive system knowledge.
- Operating POS and parts lookup systems.
- Expertise with testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services.
- ASE P2 certification or equivalent.
- Advanced solution and project management skills.
- Advanced parts lookup and sourcing skills.
- Strong DIY selling skills.
Essential Job Skills
- Working knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostics.
- Effective communication in English; Spanish a plus.
- Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, and parts catalogs.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Successful completion of Parts Knowledge Assessment.
- Basic math skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends.
Prior Experience
3-5 years of automotive parts experience and proven sales ability.
Education and Certifications
Valid driver’s license required. ASE certification preferred but not required.
