What is a Retail Parts Pro?

The Retail Parts Pro is a professional sales position supporting advanced functions within the DIY automotive parts business. The role requires expert knowledge of store systems, automotive systems, and parts, along with the ability to identify parts, troubleshoot issues, and assist customers with projects. The position involves sourcing parts from various channels, managing store inventory, and maintaining store standards. This is a full-time role.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Provide GAS2 selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone inquiries.
  2. Achieve personal and store sales goals and service objectives.
  3. Manage DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper installations.
  4. Maintain high standards of customer service and store appearance.
  5. Perform key holder duties including task management, safety, and opening/closing procedures.
Secondary Responsibilities
  1. Assist with inventory processes including truck restocking, cycle counts, and back stock management.
  2. Ensure store cleanliness including floors, bathrooms, and parking areas.
  3. Provide DIY services as listed above.
Success Factors
  • Friendly communication skills.
  • Ability to locate and stock parts efficiently.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures.
  • Proficiency with inventory systems and store equipment.
  • Parts and automotive system knowledge.
  • Experience with POS and parts lookup systems.
  • Expertise with testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services.
  • ASE P2 certification or equivalent.
  • Advanced solution and project recommendation skills.
  • Advanced parts sourcing and lookup skills.
  • Strong selling skills for DIY customers.
Essential Job Skills
  • Working knowledge of automotive systems including engine, suspension, brakes, electronics, and exhaust.
  • Effective communication in English; Spanish skills are a plus.
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, parts catalogs, and instructions.
  • Complete Parts Knowledge Assessment successfully.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Prior Experience

3-5 years of automotive parts experience and proven sales ability in customer transactions.

Education and Certifications

Valid driver's license required. ASE certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Physical Demands
