What is a Retail Parts Pro?

The Retail Parts Pro is a professional sales position supporting advanced functions of the DIY business. The role requires expert knowledge of store systems, automotive systems, and parts. Responsibilities include advanced identification, troubleshooting, and project assistance for DIY customers. The role involves sourcing parts from various channels such as special orders, FDO, and second sources. In-depth knowledge of store inventory and maintenance processes is necessary. This is a full-time position.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide GAS2 selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone inquiries
• Achieve personal and store sales goals and service objectives
• Manage DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installations, etc.
• Maintain high standards of customer service and store appearance
• Perform key holder duties such as task assignment, safety, and opening/closing procedures

Secondary Responsibilities

• Assist with store inventory processes including truck put-away, shoot-outs, cycle counts, and back stock
• Maintain store cleanliness, including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot upkeep
• Provide DIY services as listed above

Success Factors

Essential Job Skills

• Knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostics (engine, suspension, brakes, electronics, exhaust, etc.)
• Effective communication in English; Spanish is a plus
• Ability to interpret safety and operating instructions, parts catalogs, and manuals
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions
• Successfully complete the Parts Knowledge Assessment
• Accurate basic math skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong organizational skills
• Availability to work varied days, evenings, and weekends

Prior Experience

3-5 years of automotive parts experience with proven sales ability and customer transaction fulfillment.

Education and Certifications

Must have a valid driver’s license. ASE certification is preferred but not required.

Physical Demands
