What is a Retail Parts Pro?

A professional-level sales position supporting advanced functions of the DIY business. This role requires expert knowledge of store systems, automotive systems, and parts. Key responsibilities include advanced parts identification, troubleshooting, and project assistance for DIY customers. The role involves sourcing parts from various channels such as special orders, FDO, or second sources, and maintaining in-depth knowledge of store inventory and processes. This is a full-time position.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Provide GAS2 selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone inquiries.
  2. Achieve personal and store sales goals and service objectives.
  3. Manage DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.
  4. Maintain high standards of customer service and store appearance.
  5. Perform key holder duties such as task management, safety, and opening/closing procedures.
Secondary Responsibilities
  1. Assist with inventory processes, including truck put-away, cycle counts, and back stock management.
  2. Ensure store cleanliness, including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot maintenance.
  3. Provide DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper installs.

  • Proficiency with inventory systems and store equipment.
  • Parts and automotive system knowledge.
  • Operating POS and parts lookup systems.

  • ASE P2 certified or equivalent.
  • Advanced solution, project, and product recommendation skills.
  • Advanced parts sourcing and lookup skills.
  • Strong selling skills for DIY.

  • Working knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostics.
  • Effective communication in English; Spanish skills a plus.
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, and catalogs.
  • Successful completion of the Parts Knowledge Assessment.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends.
Prior Experience

3-5 years of automotive parts experience with proven sales ability and customer transaction fulfillment.

Education and Certifications

Must have a valid driver’s license. ASE certification is preferred but not required.
