Position Summary:
The Trainee's essential responsibility is to learn branch operations, compliance, risk management, security, and operational controls while providing high-quality member service. The role involves assisting members with financial needs, building relationships, and developing the skills to recommend appropriate credit union products and services. The goal is to gain the knowledge and experience required to become a Branch Manager for the credit union.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties
- Assist and support Branch Management by acting as a service center leader, actively participating in projects and events to promote and raise awareness of the credit union.
- Make quality decisions regarding deposits and loans, following all procedural and regulatory requirements.
- Process new and existing accounts, IRAs, CDs, HSAs, loan applications, and other basic lending functions, adhering to established guidelines and procedures.
- Resolve complex problems through research, using open-ended questions, and ensuring member satisfaction through consistent follow-up.
- Achieve individual performance goals as directed by District Managers.
- Provide operational and member service assistance to teller staff.
- Participate in continuing education as assigned.
- Float and assist multiple branches within the credit union after completing the initial 4-6 month training period.
- Perform other miscellaneous responsibilities as assigned to ensure efficient branch operations.

- Excellent human relations skills, including verbal and written communication.

- Solid background in branch operations, procedures, and security policies.

- Basic understanding of computer applications related to banking operations.
Accountability
- Personal lending limits vary based on experience and loan decision quality.
- Responsible for promoting service expectations, ensuring quality member service, protecting assets, and maintaining a strong sales record.
- Participate in community service and promotional events to foster personal development and promote a positive image of the credit union.
- Understand and apply policies related to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA/AML, CIP, OFAC).
- Meet performance management goals as agreed with supervisors.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 1 year customer service and/or leadership experience, whether on a college campus, in the community, or in the workplace.
