Job Title: Luxury Jewelry Buyer

Overview:

As aLuxury Jewelry Buyerat Zadok Jewelers, you will be responsible for strategically curating and purchasing fine jewelry and watch merchandise for our Houston and Austin locations. Leveraging data analytics, sales KPIs, and trend forecasting, you’ll ensure our stores consistently offer an elevated, high-performing assortment aligned with our clientele’s preferences and luxury standards.

Key Responsibilities

Product Assortment Strategy

  • Analyze sales data (e.g., sell-through %, turn rate, GMROI) to identify product performance and inform purchase decisions
  • Partner with management and in-store brand ambassadors to align assortment with sales trends and store identity
  • Ensure assortments align with customer segmentation, targeting varied price points, aesthetics, and demographics

Vendor & Brand Management

  • Cultivate vendor relationships to secure favorable terms and exclusive product offerings
  • Evaluate vendor performance using margin analysis, turn velocity, and sell-through data
  • Attend trade shows and industry events with defined KPIs for assortment expansion and new vendor discovery

Inventory Planning & Forecasting

  • Monitor and maintain optimal stock levels using rolling forecasts, historical performance data, and seasonal demand patterns
  • Maintain inventory turnover benchmarks while avoiding overstock and aged inventory
  • Coordinate open-to-buy (OTB) planning aligned with financial targets and product life cycle

Data-Driven Pricing Strategy

  • Implement pricing strategies using competitive benchmarks, cost analysis, and margin goals
  • Evaluate pricing effectiveness based on sales performance, markdown impact, and sell-through rate

Merchandise Lifecycle Management

  • Conduct monthly vendor stock balances and aged inventory analysis to maintain health of inventory
  • Track purchase order status and on-time delivery rate using inventory systems (e.g., Adaptive)
  • Oversee special orders and vendor consignment programs with real-time visibility into sales impact

Performance Reporting & Insights

  • Analyze product performance by category, designer, and SKU using dashboards and pivot tables
  • Identify trends in underperforming SKUs and adjust future buys accordingly
  • Translate data insights into visual reporting for executive and sales teams

Customer Insight & Trend Analysis

  • Synthesize customer feedback, purchase behavior, and special orders to inform future buys
  • Use market trend data and competitive intelligence to identify whitespace opportunities
  • Maintain a test-and-learn approach with emerging designers and exclusive collections

Budget Ownership

  • Manage and reconcile seasonal and annual buying budgets by category and brand
  • Evaluate ROI by brand and collection, adjusting allocation based on past profitability and projected performance
  • Strategically balance investment between Zadok Collection, designer lines, and high-margin accessories
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of buying experience in fine jewelry or luxury retail
  • Proven ability to drive performance through data: must be fluent in Excel, inventory management platforms, and sales reporting tools
  • Strong knowledge of gemstones, metals, and high jewelry design principles
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor relationship management skills
  • Analytical mindset with ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Open-to-Buy planning, GMROI, inventory turn, and category performance metrics
  • Passion for the luxury space and an intuitive understanding of customer experience
